The community of believers at Mathews United Methodist Church is in essence a family. We know that it is vital for any family to spend quality time together, celebrating each other’s successes and supporting one another during the difficult times. That “together time” can be found through the many worship and fellowship opportunities offered at Mathews UMC. We invite you to stop by and “check us out” at your earliest convenience! We welcome anyone of any description without prejudice – you should see some of us! We might just be the community of believers for you at this time in your spiritual journey.

As one of only seven Marine Corps squadrons to utilize the PBJ-1 twin-engine medium bomber against Japanese forces, Marine Bombing Squadron Six-Thirteen (VMB-613) operated in the Central Pacific during the last year of the Second World War. Being the only Marine Corps squadron to employ the cannon-armed PBJ-1H in combat, VMB-613 was trained in anti-shipping operations with a mission to harass and prevent the re-supply of bypassed Japanese forces in the Marshall and Eastern Caroline Islands. Filled with long monotonous hours of patrol, the Marines of VMB-613 performed their duty in an exemplary manner against a demoralized and increasingly desperate enemy, while maintaining the finest operational safety record of all Marine Bombing Squadrons. These efforts, of both the aircrews and the ground support personnel, ultimately contributed to the success of American naval operations in the Pacific. This is the story of Marine Bombing Squadron Six-Thirteen's contribution to victory in the Second World War.

Helena P. Schrader's novels reflect her extensive travels, her experiences in many nations and cultures, and her solid background in history. To these she adds a remarkable talent for envisioning interesting characters and bringing them to life. Readers of her novels on ancient Sparta, medieval Europe, and Europe and America during World War II find themselves transported to a historical place and time that is vivid and accurate, seeing it through the eyes of her characters and experiencing it through their adventures. And like all good novels, her stories raise basic life questions (concerning love, death, honour, and spirituality) that transcend any one place or time.

Topps says, "I've been a huge fan of Ray since I first saw him playing a character called Carlin (during my cinema going days in Scum back in 1979) about the hard and shocking story of life in a British Borstal for young offenders. Soon after I watched Ray in Quadrophenia playing a mod called Kevin based in the 1960's. Less than a year later in 1980 I was more than hooked after watching Ray playing Kenny in the TV drama FOX, which followed the lives of a small time East End gangster family in England. Twenty Six years later I'm even more hooked especially as we now get to see alot more of Ray than we used to. It seems to have taken a long time, in my opinion, for Ray to get the recognition he truly deserves."
